Elwood High (stylized as elwoodHigh) is the rebooted continuation of Elwood, a webcomic created and produced by Samuel Anderson. The series takes place nine years after the final issue of Elwood, in the year 2023. Elwood's Third Graders are now seniors at Elwood City High School. Elwood High focuses on the lives, relationships, and drama of the high schoolers as well as their families and others around Elwood City. It was first released on May 10, 2017.

Unlike the rest of Elwood, each issue of Elwood High is not given a subtitle; they are identified only by their placement number.

Elwood High is sometimes considered the eleventh volume of Elwood.

Elwoodoldlogo

An early logo for the series.

On April 6, 2017, Elwood writer Bennett Joel posted a logo that read "Elwood High," along with the caption of "2017."[1] This logo was an early design, and was ultimately not used for the final product.

Conceptart

Concept art for five Elwood characters.

On May 2, 2017, Joel posted an image with no caption. The image contained concept art of Arthur Read, Francine Frensky, Jane Read, Chip Crosswire, Thora Read, comparing their appearance in 2015 (Elwood) and 2024 (Elwood High).[2] The year 2024 was eventually changed to 2023 due to a retcon. Francine's concept art eventually changed, minimizing the gothic tones in her style, and Thora Read has yet to actually appear in the series. At that time, there was still no official comment about the reboot.

On May 8, it was finally officially announced that Elwood was being revived, with the story beginning nine years after Elwood when the kids are seniors in high school.[3]

On May 10, the first five issues of Elwood High (Issue 157-161) were released on the Elwood website (which had been redesigned for the occasion). Other issues are sporadically released since then.

On May 24, Joel confirmed on Twitter that Elwood High is scheduled to run for 44 issues, bringing the series up to Issue 200.[4] However, creator and illustrator Samuel Anderson clarified this announcement on May 29, saying: "I'm shooting for [Issue 200], but there's no guarantees. I don't want to be limited by the number 200 in case the plots have to go longer or the plot's already wrapped up."[5] Joel later officially rescinded his comment, declaring that the "endgame isn't even in sight" after Issue 193.[6]

List of issuesEdit
