The Mayor of Elwood City was the chief executive of the local government of Elwood City, Pennsylvania in the United States. The final and 25th officeholder was Alan Powers, who killed previous Mayor Prunella Deegan,[1] and transformed the office into a dictatorship under the title Alpha Cerebrum.[2]
The office of Mayor was unique for its use of the Assassination Law, a city law that stated "whoever murders the mayor becomes his successor."[3] Former Mayor Nigel Ratburn ascended to the office through this law after he pushed incumbent Mayor Hirsch off the roof of a building on February 12, 2015.[4] Although Ratburn later became an advocate of repealing the law, the city council defended it.[5]
The office of Deputy Mayor of Elwood City seemed to be closely associated with the Mayor, and is likely the Mayor's second-in-command. Stephanie Fitz filled this office under Nigel Ratburn.[6]
