She was mauled to by her dog, Killer, then hospitalized. She survived.
Thora Read was born to two unnamed aardvarks on November 6, 1914.
Thora is at one time married, and they had David Read (and other children). Later, David married Jane (maiden name unknown), and they had Arthur, D.W., and Kate Read, Thora's grandchildren.
Thora insists that her dog, Killer, was a "sweet dog." Later, Thora was mauled by Killer (A Trip to the Maul). After being taken to the hospital, Thora eventually recovered from her wounds, still insisting that Killer is sweet (The Trooper).
Thora forged an impromptu love connection with her son's father-in-law in Christmas with the Reads, Part 2, resulting in Grandpa Dave proposing to her. Thora made the painful decision to reject him, mentioning her dead husband.

- Despite being included in some concept art, Thora has not appeared or been mentioned in Elwood High. She is assumed to still be alive, although she was considered dead in early production. On January 10, 2019 at Elwoodstock IV, Elwood creator, illustrator, and writer Samuel Anderson claimed that he had "forgot" about Thora. "Thanks for the reminder," he added.
